ARSENE WENGER will do everything in his power to keep Alexander Hleb at the Emirates.
The midfielder has been the subject of interest for Italian side Inter Milan in recent weeks, but after losing out to AC Milan in the battle to keep Mathieu Flamini at the club, Wenger is determined he will not let another one slip through his grasp.
"We want to keep Hleb, we want him to be part of our team next year," the Frenchman told the club's website. "It is as simple as that. We have lost one player Mathieu Flamini, we do not want to lose more."
Reports in the media have suggested Hleb may make use of the Webster clause', which allows players to buy out the final two years of their contract, as long as they do not move to a club in the same country.
However Wenger, who is set to report Inter Milan to FIFA for an illegal approach for the 27-year-old playmaker, has dismissed the likelihood of that occurring.
"What people say about the buy-out clause, it is not as simple as it looks," said the Frenchman. "It is much more difficult and the clubs are reluctant to do that invoke the 'Webster Clause'.
