Second XI Premier Division

Wanstead & Snaresbrook Seconds jumped above Woodford Wells Seconds in the table after a three-wicket home win.

Batting first, Wells posted 231 as James Tuplin played well for 42 before Robert Leiper hit an impressive 85.

Wanstead’s Saurav Prabhakar took four for 57, while David Richardson claimed three for 36.

In reply, an excellent team display, which saw five of Wanstead’s top eight score 20 or more, allowed the hosts to seal the win with three wickets to spare.

Steven Ramdial carried his bat for 61, while Chirag Pithia (two for 52) and Deepak Sinha (two for 61) were the pick of the Wells attack.

Wanstead Seconds are away to Ilford Seconds on Saturday. Wells Seconds are at home to Hornchurch Seconds.

Chingford Seconds secured a draw at home to Ilford Seconds.

Batting first, Ilford scored 206 with Neil Dial doing the most damage, taking five for 48.

One run between four batsmen in the middle order put paid to any hopes of a Chingford victory but gutsy knocks from Paul Shawyer (47 not), Matthew Smith (17) and Dial (5 not out) sealed a draw.

Chingford Seconds travel to South Woodford Seconds on Saturday.

South Woodford Seconds held on for a hard-fought draw at home to Chelmsford Seconds.

Batting first, Chelmsford scored 191, with Louis Cant taking four wickets and Matthew Lancaster and Nikhil Dattani claiming two wickets each.

A disappointing chase saw Michael Browne hit a valuable 55 but Woodford’s attentions soon turned to avoiding defeat which they managed to do with just one wicket remaining.

South Woodford Seconds are at home on Saturday to Chingford Seconds.

Second XI Division One

Bottom-of-the-table Fives & Heronians Seconds recorded their first win of the season over fifth-placed Hadleigh & Thundersley Seconds.

Hadleigh were bowled out for 164 thanks to three wickets each for Jake Poulter and Meraj Mustanser.

Fives achieved their target with five wickets to spare as Poulter and Mustanser turned their bowling talents to the bat, scoring 40 and 45 respectively.

Fives will be hoping to build on the win when they face Harold Wood Seconds on Saturday.

Buckhurst Hill Seconds gave their title aspirations a massive boost by beating Wickford Seconds by five wickets.

The victory closes the gap between the sides to just one point after five games played.

Darren Ironside (five for 99) and Sam Sullivan (for for 43) helped Buckhurst bowl their opponents out for 224.

Buckhurst reached that total with half their line-up yet to bat as opener Harron Khan scored an important 64.

Buckhurst Hill Seconds travel to Upminster Seconds on Saturday.

Loughton Seconds earned a valuable draw at home to third-placed Hutton Seconds.

Hutton won the toss and chose to bat, finishing on 196 for nine. Wajahat Bukhari had a superb day with the ball, claiming six for 58.

Too few of Loughton’s batsmen made contributions to win the match but Jordan Ramsden and Bukhari dug in at the end to earn the hosts a share of the spoils.

Loughton are at home on Saturday to league leaders Wickford Seconds.

Second XI Division Two

West Essex Seconds suffered a disappointing six-wicket defeat against Westcliff-On-Sea Seconds.

West Essex batted first and declared on 250 for five with good contributions from Kabir Khan (74), Murad Ali (36), Mohammed Zahour (34) and Arfan Mohammed (32).

The Westcliff side performed well with the bat and West Essex used nine bowlers to try and skittle their opponents.

However, largely in part to a fine 141 not out from Leon Sealy, Westcliff reached their target in the 44th over.

Second XI Division Three

Half-centuries from Barry Leigh and Robert Newman proved important for Woodford Green Seconds as they defeated Old Brentwoods Seconds by 39 runs.

Green posted a total of 225 all out from 52 overs and it proved too much to overcome for Brentwoods, who were skittled for 186.

With the ball, Shazhad Riaz claimed four for 52 for Woodford, while Jack Cossey ended with three for 22.

Epping Seconds lost to Pegasus & Corringham Seconds by six wickets.

Pegasus opted to bowl and Epping struggled to make an impact at the crease with only Gokul Balasubramanian (46) making a significant contribution en route to a total of 165.

The home side lost only four wickets as they cruised to victory.

Epping Seconds play Old Southendian & South Church Seconds on Saturday.

Old Parkonians Seconds were held to a draw against Old Southendian & Southchurch Seconds.

Parkonians won the toss and decided to bowl but Old Southendian performed well and went on to score 248 for five from their 52 overs. Amar Thanki claimed three for 55.

In reply, Parkonians batted solidly but couldn’t keep up with the required run rate. They ended on 218 for five which meant the points were shared.
