Third XI Premier Division

Wanstead & Snaresbrook Thirds stay second in the table after narrowly beating Woodford Wells Thirds by one wicket.

Wells batted first and looked in a strong position, declaring on 339.

Chris Hamilton (109) hit his first century of the season and was supported by Albert Morgan (58) and Pat Murphy (60 not out).

Abhay Bygott (four for 104) was Wanstead’s stand-out bowler.

Chasing a big total didn’t worry the Herons however, as Ishmael Dar’s 77 set the tone before Giri Rathakrishnan (56) and Mohammed Shahriyar (63) helped seal victory for the visitors.

Rishi Roy-Mukherjee (four for 84) was the best of Wells’ attack.

Wanstead Thirds host Ilford Thirds on Saturday, while Wells Thirds are away to Hainault & Clayhall Thirds.

South Woodford Thirds were forced to settle for a draw against struggling Shenfield Thirds.

Woodford batted first and posted 255 with Jamie Carroll (90), Omer Qureshi (49) and Tayyib Iqbal (47) all in good form.

In the field however, despite taking eight wickets of which Adam Overton claimed three, Woodford were unable to finish the job as Shenfield finished on 238.

South Woodford Thirds visit Fives & Heronians Thirds on Saturday.

Fives & Heronians Thirds were beaten heavily by league leaders Ilford Thirds.

Ilford scored 226 despite Uzair Babar bowling well and taking four for 33.

Fives weren’t up to the task though, and were bowled out for 115 runs short of the target for 111.

Fives Thirds are at home to South Woodford Thirds on Saturday.

Third XI Division One

Buckhurst Hill Thirds remain unbeaten and top of the table after beating Gidea Park & Romford Thirds away by four wickets.

The visitors chose to bowl first and Gidea Park were dismissed cheaply for 170 as John Palmer took four for 46.

Buckhurst’s Ash Mohammed scored 62 as the away side eased to victory in 33.1 overs.

On Saturday, Buckhurst Hill Thirds face Wanstead & Snaresbrook Fourths.

Wanstead Fourths played out an intriguing draw with Chingford Thirds.

Chingford opted to bat first and set a target of 214, with Martin Steel top-scoring with 70.

Mehad Khan and Joel Morris-Ley took three wickets each for Wanstead.

Wanstead were left 18 runs short of victory and one wicket away from defeat as they finished on 197 for nine.

Duncan Southcott scored 81 for the Herons, while Steel took his fine form with the bat into his bowling, taking five for 34.

Chingford Thirds host Harold Wood Thirds on Saturday. Wanstead Fourths are away to Buckhurst Hill Thirds.

Old Parkonians Thirds managed to hold on and claim a draw against Shenfield Fourths.

Shenfield batted first and posted a total of 205 for nine from 46 overs. Nick Thorpe, Ronan Karuna and Qais Khan claimed two wickets apiece for Parkonians.

With the bat, Old Parkonians started sluggishly but David Tack (25) and Paresh Kalley (39 not out) helped steady the innings.

However, wickets continued to fall but Parkonians managed to see the game out, ending on 159 for eight.

Third XI Division Two

Loughton Thirds thrashed bottom-of-the-table Colchester and East Essex Thirds by 170 runs.

Choosing to bowl first, Colchester struggled to contain Loughton, who posted 254 thanks in part to an unbeaten 113 from Rishi Patel.

The home side weren’t at the races in reply as Loughton skittled their opponents for 84. Abdul Nasir and Liam Watson took four wickets each.

Loughton Thirds are away to Brentwood Fourths on Saturday.

The points were shared as West Essex Thirds recorded a draw against Billericay Thirds.

Billericay batted first and posted a total of 218 for four in their 52 overs.

West Essex looked like they were on course to overcome that total but they ran out of time and finished narrowly behind on 189 for seven.

Third XI Division Three

South Woodford Fourths lost at home to league leaders Wickford Thirds by nine wickets.

The hosts were put into bat and scored a modest 144, with Mohammed Shah (49) the stand-out batsman.

That proved far too few however, as Wickford coasted to victory for the loss of just one wicket.

South Woodford Fourths are at home on Saturday to Belhus Thirds.

Loughton Fourths eased to a 143-run victory over lowly Leigh On Sea Thirds.

Batting first, Loughton hit 247, with both Dominic Sweeting (66) and Avnish Jani (55) scoring half-centuries.

The task proved too challenging for Leigh, who were bowled out for 104 – 143 runs short.

Alex Sweeting bowled superbly, finishing with five for 27.
