Third XI Premier Division

Wanstead & Snaresbrook Thirds cruised to a six-wicket win over Fives & Heronians Thirds.

Fives won the toss and decided to bat but only two managed double figures and the home side finished on 89.

Wanstead were not as clinical as they might have been but Waseem Qureshi’s unbeaten 28 ensured victory with six wickets left.

Wanstead Thirds are at home to Hutton Thirds on Saturday. Fives Thirds visit Hainault & Clayhall Thirds.

Woodford Wells Thirds were held to a draw with South Woodford Thirds.

Wells batted first and scored an impressive 283 thanks largely to a superb unbeaten 100 from number seven Christian Hall.

South Woodford’s Adam Overton took four wickets.

In reply, South Woodford’s Robert Lancaster hit 72 but Chirag Pithia (three for 43) and Philip Ashwell (three for 37) pushed back the home side, who batted out for a draw with just one wicket to spare.

Wells are at home to Shenfield Thirds on Saturday. South Woodford are away to Chelmsford Thirds.

Third XI Division One

Wanstead & Snaresbrook Fourths kept the pressure on at the top with a 64-run victory over Hornchurch Thirds.

Second-placed Wanstead were put into bat first and posted 237 with Dev Patel remaining unbeaten on 83.

Hornchurch started well but four wickets from Barney Mead and three from Rahib Hoque helped bowl the visitors out for 173.

Wanstead play Brentwood Thirds away on Saturday.

Struggling Chingford Thirds earned a surprising draw against top-of-the-table Buckhurst Hill Thirds.

Buckhurst have only won once batting first this season but they looked comfortable, declaring on 231 for eight with Hayden Gayle hitting 36.

Chingford’s Daniel Carver was the pick of the bowlers, finishing on three for 32.

Carver also made an impact with the bat as he hit 26 but it was Malik Kashif Jamal’s 87 and Rezwan Rehman’s 46 that gave Chingford confidence before Nadir Noori’s unbeaten 20 ensured a draw.

Shahid Maan took four for 54 for Buckhurst.

Buckhurst Hill are at home on Saturday to Upminster Fourths, while Chingford Thirds play Hadleigh & Thundersley Thirds.

Third XI Division Two

West Essex Thirds were held to a high-scoring draw against Loughton Thirds.

Batting first, West Essex were in good nick as they reached 255 for eight. Azhar Ali led the way with 83 and he was supported by a decent 46 from Vaseem Ahmed.

Loughton’s response was fairly strong and they were in no real trouble, finishing on 203 for four. Anil Clarke took two for 42, while Ali picked up two for 43.

Third XI Division Three

Loughton Fourths beat South Woodford Fourths by six wickets.

Batting first, South Woodford had Shravan Sheth to thank as his 43 pushed the visitors to 122 all out.

Adam Jackson (five for 27) and Umer Aziz (three for 22) were both on form for Loughton.

The home side then reached their target with relative ease. Naved Ali top-scored on 31 as Loughton sealed the win for the loss of four.

South Woodford take on Gidea Park & Romford Fourths on Saturday while Loughton are away to Belhus Thirds.
