Third XI Premier Division

Wanstead & Snaresbrook Thirds beat Hutton Thirds by five wickets to stay top of the table.

Told to field first, Wanstead bowled their opponents out for 161, with James Fitzgerald taking an impressive five for 34, while Hamza Shoaib chipped in with three for 21.

In reply, an unbeaten 57 from Feroze Khushi saw Wanstead home after Karan Singh (38) had also batted well.

Wanstead Thirds host Woodford Wells Thirds on Saturday.

Woodford Wells Thirds suffered a disappointing three-wicket defeat to Shenfield Thirds.

Choosing to bat first, Wells set Shenfield 171 to win with Brian Schofield top-scoring on 38 not out.

Shenfield reached that target with relative ease though, despite Jack Massie taking four for 23 from his six overs.

South Woodford Thirds lost to Chelmsford Thirds by 45 runs.

Deciding to bowl first, Woodford restricted their opponents to 209 with Nikhil Dattani claiming four for 28.

The target was well within Woodford’s grasp but a disappointing batting display let them down and they were dismissed for 164. Robert Lancaster top-scored with 67.

South Woodford Thirds are at home on Saturday to Shenfield Thirds.

Fives & Heronians Thirds made it three draws out of three for the club as they were held to a stalemate against Hainault & Clayhall Thirds.

Fives’ Abbas Mirza bowled well to finish with figures of three for 32 as Hainault posted 194 but Fives were disappointing in the chase.

Only Quin Daniels really settled at the crease and it was left to the tail to hold on for a draw, finishing on 125 for seven.

Fives host Ilford Thirds on Saturday.

Third XI Division One

Buckhurst Hill Thirds remain unbeaten after a superb century from Ash Mohammed pushed his side to an emphatic win over Upminster Fourths.

Batting first, opener Mohammed scored 135 including 17 fours and two sixes as Buckhurst cruised to 272 for four. Kalathinkal Sreejesh was also in form, hitting 57.

Upminster were nowhere near their target, as Buckhurst’s bowling, led by John Palmer (four for 17) was too strong and they were skittled for 98.

Buckhurst Hill Thirds are at home on Saturday to Gidea Park & Romford Thirds.

Wanstead & Snaresbrook Fourths and Brentwood Thirds couldn’t be separated as their match ended in a draw.

Brentwood set an impressive target of 277 for Wanstead to chase but despite 54 from Barney Mead, Wanstead came up short, finishing on 195 for five.

Wanstead are away to Chingford Thirds on Saturday.

Chingford Thirds recorded a three-wicket win over struggling Hadleigh & Thundersley Thirds.

Batting first, Hadleigh scored 178 with Chingford’s Rob Ewing and Nadir Noori taking three wickets each.

Chingford were up to the task though, as Rezwan Rehman’s 56 and Malik Kashif Jamal’s 45 set the team en route to a comfortable victory.

Third XI Division Two

Loughton Thirds lost to Orsett Thirds by 18 runs in a low-scoring game.

Orsett decided to bat and were restricted to 148, with Loughton’s Alex Nicholls claiming four for 27.

With the game there for the taking however, Loughton crumbled at the crease and were dismissed for 130. Marco Hilario top-scored with 30.

Loughton Thirds are at home to Colchester & East Essex on Saturday.

West Essex Thirds drew with Colchester & East Essex Thirds despite Zain Saleem scoring a century.

Having been put into bat, West Essex put on 244 for three with Saleem hitting a superb 104 not out. Azhar Ali was not far behind on 93 before he was stumped.

In reply, Colchester finished on 150 but despite three wickets for Anil Clarke, West Essex couldn’t find the ten wickets required for victory.

West Essex are away on Saturday to Billericay Thirds.

Third XI Division Three

Loughton Fourth’s title ambitions were dented as Belhus Thirds held them to a draw.

A strong batting performance put Loughton in the driving seat as Dominic Sweeting’s 77 and Naved Ali’s 74 helped the visitors finish on 270 for six.

That was more than enough to prevent defeat but Belhus held on with one wicket to spare, ending the game on 182 for nine. Riki Laird was Loughton’s most effective bowler, taking three for 24.

Loughton Fourths are away on Saturday to Leigh On Sea.

South Woodford Fourths lost at home to Gidea Park & Romford Fourths by six wickets.

Batting first, South Woodford put on 227 for seven as opener Carl Edmonds top-scored with 52.

Gidea Park were in confident mood with the bat though, and reached their target with six wickets to spare. Woodford’s Peter Smith took two of the four wickets.

South Woodford Fourths are away on Saturday to Wickford Thirds.
