Second XI Division One

League-leaders Buckhurst Hill Seconds were left one run short of victory as lowly Fives & Heronians Seconds pulled off a dramatic draw in a game that saw three centuries.

Opting to bat first, Fives finished on 243 for seven with opener Bradley Knapman hitting a fine 115.

Knapman was eventually caught off the bowling of Darren Ironside (one for 53) but Buckhurst’s best bowler onthe day was Sam Sullivan, who claimed four for 69.

It was very much a two-man show for Buckhurst in reply as openers Ricky Reynolds (107) and Alexander Maskell (114) both hit tons but once the centurions were eventually dislodged, Buckhurst struggled.

Fives never looked like taking the wickets required for the win but battled to a draw with Buckhurst falling just one run short.

Buckhurst Hill Seconds are at home to Wickford Seconds on Saturday.

Loughton Seconds beat Harold Wood Seconds by five wickets thanks largely to an unbeaten century from Hamza Hussain.

Wood played above their position in the table however, setting a target of 239. It would have been more were it not for the excellent bowling of Loughton’s Adam Vinson, who took six for 60.

In reply, Rohail Anwar (76) got the visitors off to a good start but Hussain stole the show with an excellent 107 which laid the foundations for victory.

Loughton Seconds are away to Hutton Seconds on Saturday.

Having been put into bat, West Essex were bowled out for a modest 132. Omar Afzal (27), Pravin Perera (20) and Ibrahim Nazir (25 not out) all made good starts but weren’t able to capitalise.

That total was never going to be enough as Harlow cruised to victory without losing a wicket.

Second XI Division Three

Epping Seconds survived a strong batting performance from Belhus Seconds to earn a draw.

Batting first, Belhus racked up 306 for the loss of just four wickets as Epping struggled to exert any control on the game.

Epping Seconds are at home to Pegasus & Corringham Seconds on Saturday.

Old Parkonians Seconds drew at home to Pegasus & Corringham Seconds.

Parks won the toss and elected to bat and it looked a good decision as the hosts went on to score 256 for eight.

Amit Kalley played well for 61, while Amir Sheikh (37) and Sachin Vara (44) both added important scores, enabling Parks to declare at 256 for eight after 45 overs.

In reply, the Pegasus scoring rate was a disappointing three an over as Victor Yatheesh made early inroads and eventually took five wickets.

The game was petering out but as they took regular wickets, Parks might just have grabbed a win. But it was not to be as they couldn’t get the final wicket and Pegasus finished on 122 from their 41 overs with nine wickets down.

Old Parkonians Seconds are away to Old Southendian & Southchurch Seconds on Saturday.

An excellent bowling display saw second-from-bottom Green beat third-placed Harlow to gain important points in the battle for survival.

Batting first, Green’s Barry Leigh scored 41 as the home side posted 180 all out. That total proved enough as three wickets each for Rishabh Mehan and Yasin Mohammed, two for Marc Cologne and one for Syed Shah dismissed Harlow for 134.

On Saturday, Green travel to Old Brentwoods.
