Leyton’s prolific potter Peter Devlin experienced a taste of the professional snooker circuit as he reached the last 64 at the Pink Ribbon Pro Am tournament in Gloucester.

The competition was made up of 320 amateur players and 32 professionals, who enter in the tournament’s latter stages with the likes of Joe Perry, Dominic Dale and World Championship finalist Barry Hawkins all competing.

The 16-year-old, pictured, won four rounds to reach the last 64 before losing 4-0 to Martin O’Donnell, who is 11 years Devlin’s senior and currently ranked number 87 in the world.

“I had chances to win frames but I was a bit nervous,” Devlin said.

“It was a great experience for me though to play among some really good players and I hope I can do it more often.”

Winning his previous rounds 4-0, 4-0, 4-3 and 4-0, the teenager made several breaks of more than 40 – his highest reaching 51.

Devlin, who trains at Upton Park Snooker Centre, is now looking forward to the Under-18 World Championships in Gloucester which take place next month.
