Third XI Premier Division

Woodford Wells Thirds clinched an important victory over Chelmsford Seconds.

Chelmsford batted first but were restricted to 137 all-out as Joseph Morgan (four for 27) and Brian Scholfield (three for 11) did damage with the ball.

Wells started disastrously but recovered as 56 from Joe Hall and 33 from Albert Morgan saw the visitors to victory.

Wells are at home to Ilford Thirds on Saturday.

Mehad Khan took eight wickets as Wanstead & Snaresbrook Thirds maintained their title challenge with a comprehensive away win over Hainault & Clayhall Thirds.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat, Wanstead put on an impressive 233 with Tahir Iqbal top-scoring on 74.

It was then Khan’s turn to take centre stage, ripping through the Hainault order and finishing with figures of eight for 11 off 11.1 overs as Wanstead bowled out their opposition for just 79.

Wanstead are at home to Upminster Thirds on Saturday.

Fives & Heronians Thirds’ survival hopes were dealt a blow as they lost to fellow strugglers Shenfield Thirds by 53 runs.

Fives’ Kishen Patel was in good form with the ball, taking five wickets for 70, but Shenfield’s 193 proved too strong for Fives’ reply which closed on 140.

On Saturday, Fives face a trip to Hutton Thirds.

Upminster Thirds dealt out a four-wicket defeat to South Woodford Thirds.

Batting first, Wanstead’s Omer Quereshi (65), Nabil Shah (43 not out) and Ryan Correya (35) helped the visitors declare on 205 for seven.

That wasn’t enough however as, despite Adam Overton taking five for 84, Upminster sealed the win with four wickets in hand.

Third XI Division One

Wanstead & Snaresbrook Fourths’ title hopes suffered a blow as they were held to a draw at home by lowly Upminster Fourths.

Wanstead’s Dev Patel took five for 42 but Upminster posted a respectable total of 237.

Early wickets made the chase an uphill task for the hosts but Joel Morris-Ley’s gutsy 25 not out saw Wanstead finish on 177 for nine to hold out for the draw.

Wanstead visit Gidea Park & Romford Thirds on Saturday.

Buckhurst Hill Thirds remain at the summit after a narrow away win over Hadleigh & Thundersley Thirds.

The home side were bowled out for 198 with Buckhurst’s Shahid Maan (three for 33) doing the most damage.

A strong start to the chase by opener Shaid Mohammed (56) was not matched lower down the order but Buckhurst did just enough to win with only one wicket to spare.

Buckhurst are at home to Brentwood Thirds on Saturday.

Chingford Thirds were handsomely beaten by Chelmsford Fourths on Saturday as they succumbed to a nine wicket defeat.

Batting first after winning the toss, Chingford could only post 135 all out with Myles Joyce (38) top scoring.

Chelmsford knocked off the runs in impressive fashion, only needing 21 overs to complete the win and losing just the one wicket in the process.

Third XI Division Two

Loughton Fourths were held to a draw by bottom of the table Southend-on-Sea Fourths.

Batting first, Loughton put up 228 with opener Riki Laird scoring 62 and Hammad Malik adding 47.

Wickets were less easy to come by however and while Asim Aslam took two for 31, Southend closed on 143 for four.

Loughton are at away on Saturday to Old Southendian & Southchurch Thirds.

West Essex Thirds are still in a fight for promotion after seeing off Brentwood Fourths by seven wickets.

Paul Griffiths took five for 37 as Brentwood were bowled out for 119.

West Essex eased to the required total in just 21 overs with Zain Saleem top scoring with an unbeaten 44.

Third XI Division Three

Loughton Fourths slipped to a surprise defeat to Gidea Park & Romford Fourths.

After being put into bat, Loughton scored 240 thanks to late runs from Alex Sweeting (83) and Luke Williams (43).

An impressive total was made to look ordinary however as Gidea Park & Romford found the runs with three wickets to spare. Naved Ali finished on three for 59.

Loughton are at home on Saturday to Benfleet Thirds.

South Woodford Fourths lost to Harlow Town Thirds by 71 runs.

Winning the toss, South Woodford decided to bowl but couldn’t prevent Harlow Town from posting 277.

That challenge proved too tough for the home side who were bowled out for 206, despite a well-crafted 86 from opener Martin Woodhatch.

South Woodford are away on Saturday to Leigh-On-Sea Thirds.

Fourth XI Premier Division

An electric bowling display saw Wanstead & Snaresbrook Fifths beat Hainault & Clayhall Fourths by eight wickets.

Hainault were skittled for 91 which Wanstead reached for the loss of just two wickets.

Wanstead are away on Saturday to Upminster Fifths.

Chingford Fourths held onto a nervy draw at Woodford Green Thirds on Saturday.

Chingford finished on 183 for nine in reply to Woodford Green’s 256 for 5 declared, preventing the home side from narrowly securing the win.

Fourth XI Division One

A disappointing batting display condemned Wanstead & Snaresbrook Sixths to a six-wicket defeat against Wickford Fourths.

Wanstead were dismissed for 129 despite a 50 from Aman Ali and that total proved far from enough.

On Saturday, Wanstead are at home to Horndon On the Hill Thirds.

Fives & Heronians Fourths lost to Shenfield Fourths by four wickets.

Shahrukh Irfan didn’t deserve to be on the losing team as he hit a brilliant 112 as Fives finished on 253 for four.

Shenfield though were in good form too with the bat and reached the target with four wickets in hand.

Fives are at home to Wickford Fourths on Saturday.

Epping Thirds fell to another defeat on Saturday as the wait goes on for their first win of the season.

Epping travelled to Old Parkonians Thirds and left with a nine wicket defeat after being bowled out for 147. Charles Ash top scoring with 54 as Nav Kalley did the damage with the ball for the hosts, picking up three for 35.

Old Parkonians secured the win in 28.2 overs with only one wicket on the board with Sahil Handa (78) and Taranpreet Bhatia (54) recording half-centuries.

Fourth XI Division Three

Old Parkonians Fourths continued their promotion push with a six wicket victory over Orsett’s Fifths.

Manicks Shankar and Pirratheesh Vigneswarathasan did the damage for Old Parkonians, each collecting three wickets.

The visitors knocked off the runs with ease, finishing on 140 for six to confirm the win.

Old Parkonians will hope to continue the good form into Saturday where they host fifth placed Hutton Fifths.

High-flying Loughton Fifths were held to an unexpected draw away at Old Southendian & Southchurch Fifths.

Old Southendian batted first and hit 195. Loughton’s Peter Williams took four for 53.

In reply, Loughton finished close to the target but even closer to being bowled out as they finished on 172 for nine.

Loughton are at home on Saturday to Chingford Fifths.

South Woodford Fifths lost to Hainault & Clayhall Fifths by three wickets despite Zahid Hafeez hitting a century.

Hafeez scored 110, including 16 fours and five sixes, helping South Woodford to 217 all-out but that wasn’t enough as Hainault batted well to seal victory.

South Woodford are away to Stanford Le Hope Fifths on Saturday.

Chingford Fifths lost at home to Ilford Fifths despite Michael Blake carrying his bat for an unbeaten 94.

Chingford posted 202 for 8 declared, but saw it chased down by the visitors for the loss of seven wickets in just 31 overs.

Chris Watson and Umar Mirza were the pick of the home side’s attack, collecting three wickets each.
