DAGENHAM slumped to a second home defeat in the space of four days as Macclesfield left it late.

Silkmen substitute Francis Green grabbed the winner in the 72nd minute after cutting inside the box and unleashing a strike into the top corner.

It could have been so different for Daggers had Dave Rainford converted a 56th minute penalty.

Striker Jon Nurse had been tripped by James Jennings in the box, but Rainford - who had previously notched four penalties this season - saw his spot kick turned away by visiting keeper Jonny Brain.

And the stopper was his side's saviour late in the match with a superb tip-over from Nurse's rasping shot, befor a fine block to deny Chris Moore.

Daggers travel to title-chasing MK Dons on Saturday.

Dag & Red: Roberts, Uddin, Arber, Boardman, Foster (Hall 73), Rainford, Southam (Moore 83), Gain, Griffiths, Nurse, Strevens. Unused subs: Hogan, Sloma, Taiwo.
