Moore eager for Daggers to get revenge on the Shrews

FORWARD Chris Moore has revealed that Dagenham are eager to get one over on Saturday's opponents Shrewsbury - and admits that he would love to get the chance to play a part in it.

Daggers were whalloped 4-0 in the reverse fixture in December, but since then the Shrews have not been in such fine fettle and currently have just two more points than the east Londoners. Both remain in the relegation mixer.

And Moore believes that the Daggers need to play to their full worth at Victoria Road to complete a revenge mission.

"We owe Shrewsbury one after they smashed us last time," he said. "And we know that we can beat anyone when we play to our potential.

"We are not worrying about relegation we are just focusing on the games.

"It is all down to us - we just need to get our heads down and push on."

Moore (pictured) could only look on in frustration as his side were demolished by MK Dons at the weekend.

The 27-year-old replaced Glen Southam in the 68th minute at Stadiummkwith Daggers already trailing 3-0 and was unable to make an impact before the title-chasers wrapped it up with a late fourth.

"It was tough watching it," conceded Moore. "It did not help being two down in the first ten minutes.

"We dug in in the second half and played the way we play because it could have been a real rout earlier on.

"We worked hard in training all week but it just did not come off.

"That defender might get his toe in here or there. It's not that we are not trying.

"MK Dons are a good side and they passed it well and we just weren't good enough."

The defeat - their third on the bounce - well and truly put an end to Dagenham's sweet spell of five straight wins.

However, Moore does not look back upon it as a golden period doomed not to be repeated, and is confident there is the fight in the squad to pull clear to saftey once and for all.

He said: "It's good to have a run any time. We needed to get points on the board and we did that.

"There is no reason we can't go on another one."

Moore himself has struggled to nail down a regular starting place this season and as a result has netted just three times.

But he remains philosphical about his first team chances and insists that the team comes first.

"There are five quality strikers here now," he said.

"Ben Strevens is working well and scoring goals so we can have no complaints at not starting.

"We all have to work hard in training and take our chance when we get it."

Moore's chance might just come on Saturday.
