DAGENHAM slumped to a sixth game without a win as promotion challengers Chesterfield run out victorious at Victoria Road this afternoon.

A Jamie Ward brace put the game beyond doubt before Steve Fletcher headed in a late third.

Ward volleyed in via a deflection to open the scoring on 37 minutes and then grabbed a sucker-punch second just moments after the interval with a weak shot that squirmed through the hands of keeper Tony Roberts.

Daggers boss John Still had four strikers on the pitch with almost half hour to play in a desperate bid to try and salvage a point.

And in fairness the home side had their chances with Sam Sloma, Ben Strevens and Paul Benson all going close at various stages in the match.

But Fletcher headed the game completely out of the east Londoners' grasp on 79 minutes.

Dag & Red: Roberts, Huke, Smith (Sloma 46), Arber, Uddin, Griffiths, Southam (Moore 73), Rainford (Nurse 46), Gain, Benson, Strevens. Unused subs: Hogan, Boardman
