Coleman fears relegation dogfight if Stanley lose to Daggers
ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman believes his side can ill-afford any slip-ups in tonight's encounter with Dagenham.
Until a few weeks ago, the Lancashire club were sitting pretty in League Two.
But a run of four straight defeats, including Saturday's 2-1 loss at Macclesfield, threatens to scupper their previous good work - they are now just seven points above the drop zone.
As such, Coleman has branded tonight's clash at The Fraser Eagle Stadium as "massive", and has called on his side to get the one win he feels is needed to finally put them clear of the drop.
"I think we need one win and if we don't get it tonight it puts extra pressure to get it in the next game and makes everything more stressful with five games to go," he told the Accrington Observer.
"It is a massive game and if we lose we are in a relegation dogfight."
Stanley are just three points and four places above opponents Daggers with just five games to play.
Indeed, a win for the east Londoners tonight would take them above Stanley on goal difference.
However, while acknowledging that the importance of the game will add extra spice to the tie, Coleman is confident in the ability of his troops.
"If we can get back to playing like I know we can and put them under pressure, then hopefully we can get that win," he said.
"Dagenham will know that one or two wins and they will be safe too so they will go out for a win too - (so) it should make it an exciting game."
Coleman will be without the injured Robbie Williams and suspended Aswad Thomas, although skipper Peter Cavanagh (achilles) could be line for a return after playing 45 minutes for the reserves on Monday.
