SAM Saunders believes there is no clear favourite to take the League Two title this season.
Last year MK Dons and Peterborough United had significantly stronger squads and greater resources than most sides in the division, particularly newly-promoted Dagenham.
While they vied for the championship, the east Londoners struggled to maintain their League Two status.
But midfielder Saunders - who made his 100th appearance for the club in Saturday's clash with Port Vale - thinks any team in the division could walk away with the title this term.
He said: "Every team in this league is going to look at this season and feel they have got a chance.
"There is no out and out frontrunner. Everyone is going to feel they have a chance and the best team will win."
When quizzed on which team he though Daggers should keep an eye on, there was only one winner for Saunders.
He said: "Ourselves and ourselves only because we’re the only ones who can affect what we do.
"It doesn’t matter what any other team does. It’s what we do."
Looking ahead to Dagenham's trip to Morecombe on Saturday, Saunders realises the team is in for a challenge - but it is one he is relishing.
"We’ve played them plenty times being in the Conference with them," he added.
"We know it’s going to be a tough game because they are physical and the crowd is going to be on their side.
"Any points up there is a bonus and if we can get three it would be lovely."
