MORECAMBE defender Jim Bentley is hoping his team can turn their season around on Saturday against Dagenham and Redbridge, writes Joseph Gleave.

Morecambe are yet to record a win this campaign with one draw and two losses and the Shrimps are desperately looking fore a first league victory of the campaign.

But Bentley has dismissed any talk of a crisis at Christie Park, pointing out other teams are in worse positions than them at the moment, but he admits it is a disappointing start.

However he sees the game at the weekend as a chance to improve Morecambe's situation and hopes the fans can get behind the team.

"Some people are talking of a crisis - but that so wide of the mark,” he told the club's official website. “There is no crisis and you can't talk of one after just three games of the season. And there are clubs in a much worse position than ourselves.

"We have the chance to get that win on Saturday when we play Dagenham and Redbridge at Christie Park and the fans can make a big difference to us.

"I know they are disappointed with the start - we all are - and they are used to success. It is all very well for the fans to enjoy the good times but we really need them behind us when things are not going so well.

"Our fans can make such a difference to us and spur us on and if they back us it can only help us to get the results."

Bentley realises John Still's side have started strongly in their second season in League Two, but he doesn't think his team-mates should play too much attention to other team's exploits and should focus on trying to win games again.

He added: "We are under no illusions about the Dagenham game. They came up with us and struggled a bit last year but they have come flying out of the blocks this time around.

"But to be honest, we are not too bothered about what other teams are doing. We want to sort ourselves out and get that winning mentality back and there is no reason why we cannot do that."
