Fee is undisclosed by club

Dagenham and Redbridge FC have sold striker Paul Benson to Charlton Athletic.

The deal, which is rumoured to be worth £250,000, sees the 30 year-old move across to south London to the club's rivals in League One.

Charlton had made two previous bids for the player over the course of the summer.

Benson mulled over the decision on Sunday after this latest bid was made, which matched Daggers' own valuation.

The hitman is eligable to play against his ex-club tonight, in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

It is understood that John Still is poised to sign up to two new player before the transfer deadline, at 6pm today.
