2:59pm Saturday 7th January 2012 in Daggers
Dagenham & Redbridge will be in the pot for the FA Cup fourth round after holding Championship side Millwall to a goalless draw at Victoria Road.
It was a game that will not live long in the memory for either fan as chances were at a premium throughout the 90 minutes.
However, the result means that both teams will again face off as the Daggers travel to the Den for the replay on Tuesday January 17.
With more than ten first team players missing through injury Daggers boss John Still would’ve been relieved to welcome back Abu Ogogo from suspension.
While Millwall dominated possession in the first half they had very little to show in terms of shots on goal.
An early free kick from James Henry produced a routine stop from Dagenham keeper Chris Lewington.
The Daggers best opportunities came from set pieces but the poor delivery would have frustrated Still as several crosses were easily dealt with by the Millwall defence.
Dagenham had a chance just before the break as new loan signing Ahmed Abdulla came close with a shot from the edge of the box that drifted wide of the post.
The second period quickly went into the same routine as the first as Kenny Jackett’s again kept the ball well without really threatening Lewington’s goal.
Brian Woodall’s shot from distance couldn’t threaten Steve Mildenhall’s goal while the Lions best opportunity fell to Liam Trotter whose header went wide.
With one goal looking likely to settle the game it was the Daggers who looked more likely to score.
Billy Bingham first saw his shot well blocked by Darren Ward before Woodall’s late drive was also stopped on its way to goal by Alan Dunne.
A last minute shot from Dominic Green could’ve secured a win for the Daggers but his shot also went wide of the post ensuring a replay would be needed to separate the sides.
