BUCKHURST HILL'S new captain Russell Beckett is relishing the prospect of his latest challenge after joining from Fives and Heronians and has set the team the goal of achieving promotion this year.
Hill finished well off the pace last season, finishing 44 points behind Division Three champions Harold Wood in fourth place. But Beckett has brought several players with him from Fives, including Daniel Platt and Adrian Palmer, and hopes are high for the upcoming campaign.
Overseas batsman Ahmed Mohammed and Middlesex's Rohan Bhome have joined Beckett at Roding Lane although several members have left the club. Despite this Beckett insists his side is ready for the challenge and he can't wait to lead his new-look team out for their first game against Ongar.
He said: "It's been great getting involved with the club," insisted Beckett.
"The new players will compensate for those that have left and we've got a good side here now.
"We enjoyed a good win against Harlow last week which has given us a good confidence boost ahead of the game against Ongar and we're all very confident that we can start with a win."
