More of the same will do for Chingford skipper Kirnon
Sam Kirnon
CHINGFORD skipper Sam Kirnon believes that an unchanged team will help preserve his sides Premier League status for another season.
The Forestsiders made a flying started to their maiden campaign in the Shepherd Neame Essex League's top-tier and at one stage even looked like surprise title contenders.
Eventually, though Kirnon's boys slipped away in toward the end of the season, but still finished a creditable seventh.
And the Chingford captain continues to keep his feet firmly on the ground ahead of the 2008 season opener with Wanstead on Saturday.
"We had a good first season in the Premier League and really enjoyed the big new adventure," said Kirnon. "We also learnt a lot from the experience, both as players and as a club.
"I'm really pleased that no one has left the club over the winter and that we've been able to retain the same team for this season.

"Hopefully that will help us consolidate our position in the league for another season. We know we aren't one of the big clubs in this division so it will be another big achievement for us to stay up again."
Reflecting on the home fixture with Wanstead, Kirnon added: "It is a tough game to begin with, but being a derby fixture anything can happen and hopefully we can get off to a good start."
