GREG HARRIS has called on his batsmen to stand up and be counted this week as Walthamstow travel to Southend-on-Sea on Saturday.

Stow skipper Harris saw his side collapse from 130-2 to 156 all out chasing just 167 runs for victory against Old Southendians last week. And the bowler, who took five wickets in the match, has called on his players to show "more discipline" with the bat as they look to pick up their first win of the new season.

"Our batting was terrible," admitted Harris. "Having bowled and fielded so well it was disappointing not to chase down a total of 166.

"Thanks to a fine knock of 85 from Asif Bala we were in a great position to go on and win the game, but at 130-2 we had a complete batting collapse and lost the next seven wickets for just 22 runs.

"It was a hugely frustrating result and we certainly threw the game away.

"Hopefully, though, we've learnt our lesson and we've been working hard this week on our batting ahead of the match at Southend.

"As long as we can show more discipline with the bat then I don't see why we can't win."

After being encouraged by his side's display in the field, Harris is demanding a repeat performance.

"Hopefully we can bowl and field as well as we did at the weekend," he continued.

"It is a game we've got to look to win after last weekend, as we've got a tough match at Loughton the following Saturday."
