WOODFORD came from behind to see off the challenge from Barking in Division One at the weekend.
After conceding a try, Woodford sprung into action and Ashley Somers crossed the line for the leveller. Liam Sanderson’s impressive catch-and-run produced the second score, and the hosts started to stretch their legs, Brad Burrell, Ian Bukenya, Matt Grogan and a second from Somers securing the points.
The B team enjoyed an even more emphatic victory over local rivals Eton Manor in Division Three, with Gittins grabbing a hat-trick of tries. Jones, Vuckovic, Foot and Crawford also went over, while Goddard slotted five conversions.
On the football pitches, Senrab U13 A progressed to the semi-final of the Essex County Cup after a narrow 1-0 victory over East Thurrock United. Alfie Mapp and Franco Mici were the stand-out performers on the day, but it was Malaki Toussaint who got the decisive goal with a 25-yard screamer.
Meanwhile, Walthamstow Wolves U10s squeezed past AA Barking 2-1, with Rio Nelson and Joshua Silvani grabbing the goals. The U13s saw their second-half lead wiped out by a last-minute equaliser against Aldersbrook as they drew 1-1.
