Woodford achieve great success at mini-section festival

JUNIOR RUGBY

WOODFORD Rugby Club's mini-section made the trip to Eton Manor's Nutter lane home for their annual festival.

In their final matches of the season the Highams men enjoyed a warm welcome to this well organised event, in which they enjoyed great success.

U12s: Finchley 0-5, Rochford 0-35, Thurrock 5-15, final cancelled. U11s: Finchley 0-10, Rochford 10-15, Thurrock 0-5, Eton manor 20-10. Woodford won the Bowl final. U10s: Finchley 20-15, Rochford 20-15, Thurrock 25-5, Eton Manor 10-5. Woodford won the Cup. U9s: Rochford 15-5, Thurrock 15-0, Finchley 15-0. Woodford won the final against Chingford 15-10. U8s: Finchley 50-45, Rochford 40-20, Thurrock 50-25. Woodford finished runners-up after narrowly losing 15-20 to Upper Clapton.

A poker game with a BIG difference was held in Walthamstow. The event, billed as possibly the 'Most Dangerous Poker Tournament in the World', pitted more than 70 punters against the massive newly-crowned British Cage Rage Heavyweight Champion Mustapha Al Turk, who is also a dab hand on the poker table. The Guardian sent its very own cardsharp, sports reporter ROSS DAVIES, to try and win the special prize by knocking out Mr Al Turk.
