Chelmsford v Wanstead and Snaresbrook
(Essex Matchplay U16s Competition)
WANSTEAD won the toss and captain Christian Burgess elected to bat on a very hot day.
Chelmsford's tight bowling restricted Wanstead to 26-1 after eight overs.
With Josh Hutchings joining opener Burgess (pictured), they had a long way to go to get close to last week's team score of 281 in which Burgess scored a magnificent 126 against Havering-atte-Bower and Wanstead won by 243 runs.
Hutchings was finally caught on 69 after sharing a partnership with Burgess of over a hundred runs.
The Herons only lost two wickets in their 40 overs for 237 in which Burgess scored a consecutive century in a matchplay game.
He finished on 109 not out.
Chelmsford lost early wickets and Haseeb Chaudhri took the last wicket with the last ball of the innings, dismissing Chelmsford for 137 all out, giving Chaudhri three wickets for the match.
WEST Essex U11s recorded their first win of the season, a 26-run victory at South Loughton on Sunday.
The Highams Park club's best bowling came from Matthew Smith and Galib Ahktar who claimed five wickets between them.
The other wickets were shared by Harry Burgess, Azhar Shah and Daniel Bingham . Abs Ahmed top scored for West Essex in reply.
West Essex U3s lost their latest cup match at Old Parks where the home side totalled 110 in 20 overs.
The visitors' best bowling came from Jack Bassett (one for 24) and Lewis Meyer (one for 15).
In the West Essex innings there were good contributions by Sammi Zahoor (15) Alfie Chapman (17) Firaz Iqbal (14) and Hassan Shah (24).
But the Old Parks total proved to be just too much and the home side won the match by 19 runs.
