It was sheer joy and punch the air time after ten man Orient booked their place in the Johnstones Paint Trophy southern area final.

It was in-form David Mooney who headed home the winner against Yeovil that sent the Brisbane Road faithful into a frenzy both after the goal and at the final whistle.

With two stands open the atmosphere was electric and resonated a proper cup tie which was helped after Yeovil bussed their fans free to the game where some 800 plus joined their throng and ours to create good voice throughout.

The first half was scrappy with no side getting a grip but in the second it was Orient all the way with the O's creating chances. We were down to ten men after the referee gave Anthony Griffiths two yellows, one for a foul and the other for kicking the ball away.

It was an over reaction by the ref, but that brief episode seemed to just spur the O's on and they went onto to score in the 90th minute. It was Mooney's tenth goal and boy did he and we celebrate. He took his shirt off and rushed to awaiting fans who mobbed him like a rock star.

When play was restored there was six minutes added extra time when Lee Cook ran through to hit a shot that rattled their crossbar. A fitting end to a jolly good cup tie.

It was sweet revenge after their recent three goal job that spoilt the party, but it was party time last night when at the final whistle Russell Slade ran onto the pitch in jubilation to hug each player in an emotion that warms your cockles.

The last two O's games had silverware on our minds and last Saturday's visit to the KC Stadium in our FA Cup tie against top Championship side Hull City saw the Orient dominate large parts of play that resulted in a 1-1 draw.

It was the O's that took the lead with another Mooney pin point goal only to be thwarted with a late equaliser.

It was a massive blow but for me there are two big positives. It was a season's best performance so far and next Tuesday we can have another go. It's all doable meanwhile its back to bread and butter league business next up on Saturday.

Crewe Alexandra are our League One visitors. The way we are playing at the moment we fear no one. It's there for the taking.

Up the O's.
