Orient played a first class game against League One leaders Tranmere Rovers that ended in a 2-1 win with goals from Charlie MacDonald and Martin Rowlands.

It was display worthy of the three points and the result was a second defeat inside a week for Tranmere. Top of the league you're having a laugh was sung round the ground as it soon became apparent the O's were dominating the game.

Rovers looked a shadow of the side that are in pole position. They were at best second best. The O's got off to a flying start and scored after only eight minutes when Charlie MacDonald opened his account with a typical predatory striker's goal.

Dean Cox sent in a free-kick from the left which MacDonald latched onto with a point-blank header which was only parried by keeper Owain Fon Williams for the striker to nod in on the rebound.

Six minutes later the O's had a penalty shout when Cox was deemed to have been fouled by Ash Taylor. Martin Rowlands had the chance to double the lead and he struck the ball well but it was saved.

With the O's pressing forward with energy midfielder Rowlands made amends when he pounced on a clearance 25 yards from goal to strike a dipping left foot volley to the left of Williams that gave the keeper no chance.

Tranmere gave themselves a lifeline to hang onto when substitute Michael O'Halloran arrived at the far post to sweep in a cross from Danny Holmes but it was all to late. We were good value for the victory.

Once again we showed we can match the best which all bodes well, with the good set of recent signings we are beginning to build a strong squad not just in numbers but quality. We welcome Romain Vincelot who came on as substitute on Saturday. He's highly rated by Russell Slade also it's good news Kevin Lisbie has signed on the dotted line to extend his contract.

He's such a prolific scorer that on his return we wll be spoilt for choice for strikers. It's all looking good as we look up the table not down and that game on the east coast which has an early kick-off time of 7.15pm.

Next up it's Hartlepool away. We can do it as we play just as well on our travels.

Bring it on,

Up the O's.
