Police have arrested a 26-year-old man following an attack on Leyton Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones during yesterday's match at Swindon Town.
In the second half of the game, a supporter invaded the pitch from behind the goal and appeared to aim three punches at Jones before being dragged away by stewards.
O's manager Russell Slade said it was the worst incident he'd seen in his time as manager and Swindon Town chairman Jed McCrory has since apologised to Jones.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said last night: "Wiltshire Police can confirm that a 26-year-old man from Swindon was arrested earlier today (yesterday) at the County Ground during the Swindon Town game against Leyton Orient.
"He was arrested on suspicion of pitch invasion and remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station, Swindon, at this stage.
"Police enquiries are ongoing. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."
