Russell Slade insists Leyton Orient will do everything they can to hold onto Moses Odubajo and believes it will take a “sizeable offer” for the winger to leave the club.

The 20-year-old played a major role in helping the O’s finish third in League 1 and further caught the eye at Wembley when he scored a spectacular opener in the team’s play-off final defeat to Rotherham United.

Orient boss Slade, who is currently with the squad in Las Vegas as a reward from chairman Barry Hearn for finishing in the top six last season, said: “The first thing is he’s [Odubajo] under contract so he’s our player.

"Somebody’s got to come in with a sizeable offer if he was ever to leave the football club. He’s a credit to himself and the football club. You don’t get many 20 year olds that have played more than 100 games at that age.

“I think he took his goal magnificently well in the final. He’s a product of our youth policy and a great individual, so he’s somebody in an ideal world that we’ll want to hang on to.”

Odubajo played in every single league match last season and scored 12 goals for Orient. Unsurprisingly his form has sparked interest in him and the winger has been linked with sides such as Tottenham Hotspur, Celtic and Ipswich Town over the last 18 months.

The winger, who was named the Football League young player of the month for April, has become a key player in the O’s side over the last two seasons and looks more than capable of making the step up to the Championship.

Odubajo’s performance at Wembley is only likely to attract more interest in him and with Orient missing out on promotion it would be no surprise if the club received several offers for him this summer. But keeping players such as Odubajo will be critical to their chances next season of another play-off push.
