Russell Slade is expected at Cardiff City's training ground today to meet with Bluebirds officials ahead of his potential appointment as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's successor, according to Wales Online.

The 53-year-old tendered his resignation as Leyton Orient manager last night, but a statement from the O's said the club's lawyers were "studying the file" and his resignation had not been accepted.

It is understood Slade will meet with Cardiff officials at City's training ground later today, in order to discuss the opportunity to replace former Manchester United striker Solskjaer at the Cardiff City Stadium.

A statement on Orient's website on Wednesday evening read: "The chairman and the CEO of Leyton Orient have received a resignation letter from Russell Slade a few minutes ago.

"This has not happened by chance after the club rejected this afternoon a proposal from the general manager of Cardiff City regarding the transfer of Russell Slade. The lawyers of the club are now studying the file."

Slade is now as short as 1/16 with one bookmaker to becomes the new Bluebirds manager.
