Leyton Orient owner Francesco Becchetti insists Kevin Nugent remains the right man to be their new head coach but accepts the club have a problem and need to find a solution.

Nugent has been offered the head coach role but fans have questioned whether he is the correct choice after overseeing two home defeats in the last week.

Speaking after today's loss to Swindon Town, Becchetti said: "Kevin is very good but everyone knows there is a problem. We have to stay calm and evaluate the situation and find a solution.

"For the moment he is but I think it's difficult to approach this season when you make a program with one manager and he decides to leave. You have to manage the situation.

"We have to understand what the problem is because this club went to Wembley in the play-off final last year and we invested some money to improve the team so these results are quite strange."

Becchetti also accused Russell Slade of engineering a move to Cardiff City. Slade is still waiting to be appointed as their manager because Orient are in dispute over his departure. But the Italian is adamant Slade used the media, by publicising his job was on the line, to help set up his exit from Brisbane Road.

Becchetti said: "To be clear he decided to go to another place and used the fact we said something in the changing room. But inside the changing room you can say whatever you want and you don't have to use outside.

"It is totally clear if you see what happened. I would prefer it if he came to me and said I have a request from Cardiff and I want to go there.

"It's normal if another club in the Championship then it's not simple to say no but this is the history and nobody can speculate about that."
