Kevin Nugent says Leyton Orient will shortly release a statement regarding his future with the O’s.

Orient have been without a manager since Russell Slade resigned on September 24 in order to join Cardiff City.

Nugent has been in charge of the O’s since Slade’s departure and his side gained a 2-2 draw against Sheffield United this afternoon.

After the game Nugent, who said on September 30 that he’d been offered the head coach position, was again asked about his future.

He said: “It’s not too much different to how it was before. I don’t want to take anything away from today’s game. It was all about the players, nothing else outside the football pitch.

“The club will be making a statement pretty shortly I think about the current situation. But today was about the players and the spirit of the camp.”

He added: “There has been a lot spoken about my situation but I want to get away from that at the moment. Hopefully we will get some clarity shortly.”

The O’s clinched a 97th minute equaliser to come away from Bramall Lane with a point. Jay Simpson had opened the scoring for Orient in the first half.

Nugent's side were reduced to ten men in the second period when Jobi McAnuff was dismissed. T

They looked as if they'd hang on for a win, however, two goals in two minutes in the dying moments of the contest had seemingly earned the Blades all three points.

But a late header from Romain Vincelot snatched a draw for the O’s and Nugent was delighted with his side’s effort.

He said: “We’re buzzing at the end. We thought we were going to hang on but then we threw it away. So it was a bit up and down.

“It was a really spirited performance today.”

He continued: “I’ve never questioned if the players are behind me. I’d never question them getting behind any manger though because they are such an honest group. All they want to do is to do what is right for the football club.”
