Kevin Nugent believes his side are starting to gel and expects Leyton Orient to keep improving after he picked up his first league win as interim manager.

Nugent has endured a difficult start to his time in charge of the O’s but enjoyed his best night since replacing the departed Russell Slade as Orient won 2-0 at Doncaster Rovers last night.

The victory at the Keepmoat Stadium made it 11 games without defeat away from home in all competitions this season and helped lift Orient up to 15th in League 1.

Nugent said: “I think the players are finding their feet now and getting there, not in terms of fitness but in sharpness levels. We’re gelling together even if the team and personnel changes a little bit.

“Once we get a few more victories and climb up the table a little bit more, all of a sudden the players get a new lease of life and the supporters get behind them even more so than they are and hopefully we can see some home victories as well now.”
