Interim Orient boss Kevin Nugent admitted Darius Henderson's sending off cost them dearly in their 3-0 defeat at Port Vale.

The O's were reduced to ten men in the first half when Henderson was dismissed for elbowing an opponent and Orient lost their unbeaten away record.

Nugent said: "We didn't start the game particularly well with 11 players and then when you get a man sent off that early it made it difficult for us today.

"I've quickly had a look at it and the footage isn't great if I'm honest so it's a difficult one. But it was a sending off and it's cost us."

Reflecting on the side's third sending off in four matches, Nugent said: "The football management side of things is never easy but the situation arose and we've had another sending off and it's cost us today."

Some of Orient's players were seen arguing with each other in the warm down after the match but Nugent insisted he was not aware of this.

He said: "I haven't seen that but certainly you don't want them out here laughing and joking after getting beat 3-0 at Port Vale if there was some reaction. But I don't know anything or heard about that."
