Leyton Orient are still waiting for their first home win this season after a late Coventry City equaliser earned a 2-2 draw.

It was a largely uneventful first half hour but Coventry opened the scoring ten minutes before the break when a defensive mistake enabled Jim O’Brien to score.

But Orient grabbed an equaliser after 54 minutes when defender Scott Cuthbert headed home for the hosts. But Orient were stunned by an injury time effort from O'Brien which left them still waiting for a first home win.

The O’s made two changes from the side beaten by Preston on Tuesday. Captain Nathan Clarke returned in place of the suspended Shane Lowry while Millwall loanee Josh Wright started ahead of Bradley Pritchard.

The match got off to a disrupted start when Coventry defender Reda Johnson was taken off with an injury which resulted in a lengthy stoppage.

It was a very low key contest early on and both sides were struggling to create any noteworthy opportunities.

Dean Cox drilled in a low cross but the winger’s delivery was too close to keeper Lee Burge as he claimed the ball.

Gary Madine had a great chance to open the scoring for the visitors but he was denied by a superb last ditch tackle from Mathieu Baudry.

Cox struck a fierce volley for the O’s but his effort crept just wide of the target.

Coventry appealed for a penalty after Frank Nouble went down in the area but referee Jeremy Simpson signalled for a goal kick.

The visitors opened the scoring after 35 minutes when Clarke slipped and Madine took advantage by setting up O’Brien for a clinical finish past Gary Woods.

Orient had a late opportunity in injury time from a free-kick by Cox but the flick on by Clarke went into Burge’s arms.

The visitors went close through John Fleck but his shot was straight at Woods.

But the O’s punished them as they won a corner and Cox’s delivery was headed home by Cuthbert.

O’Brien went close for City but he flashed his powerful volley just past the far post.

Jack Finch put the ball in the net for Coventry but the goal was ruled out due to a foul by Madine.

Orient took the lead with 20 minutes remaining when Baudry sent in a cross and Simpson headed home to the delight of the O’s fans.

Milanese made his first substitution when he introduced Pritchard in place of Wright. Shaun Batt was also thrown on in place of striker Gianvito Plasmati.

The O's looked on course to claim a much-needed victory but were left stunned after O'Brien fired home in the first minute of injury time to rescue a Coventry point.
