Bradley Pritchard believes everyone at the club has bought into Fabio Liverani’s ideas as the O’s revival continued under their new manager.

Leyton Orient finished the calendar year on a high with back-to-back wins to ease their relegation fears. Liverani has picked up two victories from his four games in charge and Pritchard insists the players are fully behind their fourth boss of the season.

The former Charlton Athletic midfielder said: “In football there are always going to be new managers and changes. It’s just about how you react to them. You can either buy into it or you can decide it’s not for me. But I think everyone in there has really bought into it and tried to help change things positively.”

The O’s hit their lowest point of the season after the recent 2-0 defeat at Barnsley left them in the relegation zone but Pritchard thinks the players have taken on more responsibility since this moment.

He said: “It is a big change from the Barnsley defeat and we knew as well that we had to pick ourselves up. I think we’ve under-achieved this season after last year. We certainly didn’t expect to be where we are but we can only look at ourselves and look to change it.

“We had to change our mentality a bit and had to take on more responsibility. If things are going to change it was going to be through us and we certainly looked to put that right. It has been a bit of a change but as long as it carries on like this then we’ll be happy for it and it is progress.”

Pritchard added: “We were just talking about the momentum it gives us. Hopefully we can carry that on and certainly it bodes well with the confidence it gives us. We’re looking forward to the new year.”

Orient’s 3-0 victory at Yeovil Town on Monday night saw the return of striker Kevin Lisbie after four months out following a shoulder operation. The 36-year-old celebrated his comeback with a goal and Pritchard believes his experience is invaluable to the side.

He said: “It was very good to have his experience back. He’s got a few more years left in him.”

Pritchard joked: “He’s up and coming so it was good to see him get on there. Lis has been someone we’ve really missed and you can see from his performance out there we really did benefit with him in the team.

“Overall it was good to have him in the side and also good to see his lungs managed to hold out which was more important than the shoulder.”

There was some doubt that the match at Huish Park would even take place with sub-zero temperatures leaving the pitch frozen in places.

“We’re very pleased because conditions were very testing,” Pritchard said. “It was very tough out there but I thought everyone really put in a good shift and a very professional performance.

“There was a concern it could be called off. When we first turned up and looked at the pitch we were thinking it’s just getting harder and firmer and we thought there is a chance it could be postponed. But when you start playing you quickly forget about that, especially when you go a goal up.”

There has been speculation Orient could be busy in the January transfer window but Pritchard insists the players are only focused on keeping a winning team on the pitch.

He said: “It’s beyond our control and all we can do is play our game. We have to go out there and show what we can do.

“Everything in the boardroom or behind the scenes is not for us to deal with so we just concentrate with playing.

“I guess it is important to keep everyone together. We have a very good squad. I think if we can continue this momentum and put a string of wins together then who knows?”
