Leyton Orient manager Fabio Liverani admits he should not have run on the pitch but believes the officiating cost his side in their 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town.

Liverani was sent off late on after protesting at the failure to award a penalty for a challenge in the area on Bradley Pritchard.

The Italian, speaking via a translator, said: "Today's match has been badly affected by the referee's decision. There were two clear penalties for us. One in the first half (for a handball) and a big one in the second half.

"I don't have anything to say to the players because the referee has got it wrong. It is an impossible decision. It's not possible for the referee and linesman to miss this."

Liverani could face a touchline ban after protesting against the late decision which resulted in a free-kick just outside the area.

He said: "I will talk to the club about whether to appeal or not (if banned from the touchline). I admit I made a mistake by running onto the pitch. But I think my mistake was smaller than the referee's mistake."

Orient's defeat halted the optimism which followed after back-to-back wins last year and leaves the side one place above the relegation zone.

Liverani said: "I am particularly disappointed by the first half. I wasn't honestly expecting a performance like in the first half because in the last two games we've been really focused for 90 minutes. I stressed about being focused from the beginning and we weren't."
