Leyton Orient boss Fabio Liverani expects his side to respond strongly this weekend at Peterborough following their midweek defeat.

The O's lost at home to leaders Bristol City on Tuesday night but the Italian has faith in his squad to put this behind them.

Liverani’s first game in charge back in December was also against Peterborough and he believes his team have come a long way since this day.

Liverani said: “I think we have made a lot of progress in terms of performances. We know each other much better and I think we’re more confident than when we started three months ago. I think the team reacts much better to a loss like the one today. I’m not concerned and I’m sure on Saturday we will get back on track.”

He added: “I am not superstitious and don’t think about what has happened in past years. But I’m confident that we’re now putting in good performances so I’m confident we’ll win points on Saturday.”

Orient have won three of their last five matches but are still in the bottom four of League One.

Opponents Peterborough lost to Orient at home in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy back in September and have had a mixed season.

But the Posh have picked up back-to-back wins, boosting their play-off hopes, since caretaker manager David Robertson replaced the departed Darren Ferguson.
