Leyton Orient boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation after easing to a 3-0 home win over bottom side Yeovil Town this afternoon.

The hosts opened the scoring after just two minutes when Chris Dagnall drilled the ball home and it got even better shortly afterwards when Ryan Hedges made it 2-0.

Orient added a third goal after half-time when the impressive Jobi McAnuff scored from close range to complete the double over a desperately poor Yeovil side.

The O’s made four changes to the side beaten at Peterborough. Darius Henderson started in attack with David Mooney on the bench while Marvin Bartley replaced Romain Vincelot after he was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Hedges also returned to the side in place of Bradley Pritchard while Andrea Dossena was preferred to Gary Sawyer.

Orient made a superb start to the match after just two minutes when McAnuff launched a run and set up Dagnall for a low finish.

Fabio Liverani’s side doubled their lead in the seventh minute when Dossena’s shot was blocked and Hedges followed up to net from close range.

The hosts continued to dominate the match and McAnuff was only denied by an excellent save from goalkeeper Scott Loach.

Orient hit the woodwork when Henderson’s shot was tipped onto the post by Loach.

The O’s were again denied by the post when McAnuff’s shot was parried and Dagnall’s follow up effort was inches away from going in.

Bartley went close from distance but his strike was pushed away by the busy Loach.

It was a quiet start to the second half but the visitors created a rare opportunity through Joel Grant but his shot was parried by home keeper Alex Cisak.

Liverani’s side made it 3-0 when Dagnall set up McAnuff and the midfielder tapped the ball home from close range.

The hosts made their first change when Mooney was brought on in place of Henderson.

Orient nearly scored their fourth goal but Dagnall’s fierce strike was pushed over the bar by Loach.

Liverani made another change with Pritchard coming into the midfield in place of Bartley. Their final substitution saw Jay Simpson replace goalscorer Hedges.

Having used all three subs, the hosts finished the game with ten men after Mathieu Baudry went off with an injury.

The O's were untroubled during the closing minutes though and picked up a vital three points to keep the pressure on the teams just above the League One relegation zone.
