Orient goalkeeper Alex Cisak believes a win at Crewe Alexandra this weekend will take the team within touching distance of safety.

The O’s head into Saturday’s vital League One match just one place above their fourth-bottom opponents with only goal difference separating them. It is Orient’s only remaining game against a team in the lower half of the table and Cisak insists it is a match they cannot afford to lose.

The Burnley loanee said: “We’ve got a massive game on Saturday which we’ve got to take three points from. They are level on points with us so we need to win there. There are five or six teams around us separated by a few points so it’s vital we win on Saturday.

“We can’t afford to lose and if we win their morale is going to go down and hopefully they won’t win any more games. It’s a massive match so hopefully we’ll have as many fans as possible coming to the game to support us. It’s a massive match and three points there will move us very close to staying up.”

The O’s are unbeaten in three matches and Cisak has targeted extending their run until the end of the season.

The Polish-born keeper said: “Teams around us have been on little runs but as long as we stay unbeaten it gives us a really good chance. If we stay unbeaten until the end of the season, I think that will be enough points to stay up. That’s the most important thing not to lose games now.

“At this stage of the season it’s really important to keep getting points on the table. I think 52 or 53 may be enough this season so we just have to keep getting points to get as close as we can to the safety zone.”

Cisak has impressed since joining on loan from Turf Moor in February, keeping five clean sheets from 13 appearances.

The 25-year-old said: “It’s been really good. Ideally I’d like to have won more games but we haven’t done too badly since I’ve been here and I’m really enjoying playing football. It’s a great club and all the boys and staff have been excellent so I’m really enjoying my time here.”

The shot stopper had his best game for the club on Monday, after pulling off a string of superb saves in the draw with Gillingham.

He said: “I think it was the most saves I’ve made in a game because in most of the matches I’ve not had a lot to do. I was just happy to keep us in the game and at 3-1 there were a few crucial saves. But the boys worked extremely hard when we were trailing and did well to get back to 3-3 which could be a vital point at the end of the season.”

Cisak added: “It was like a basketball game which was end-to-end, especially in the second half. In the end I think we could have even won it after getting the third goal.”
