Leyton Orient boss Fabio Liverani believes his side were unlucky not to win at Crewe Alexandra in their crucial battle at the bottom of League One.

The O's had to settle for a 1-1 draw this afternoon despite dominating the second half and creating plenty of chances.

Lauri Dalla Valle fired Crewe into an early lead before Darius Henderson equalised for the visitors. But Liverani felt his side deserved to come away with victory from Gresty Road.

Liverani said: "We weren't lucky today because the game was very different. In the first half the wind was a problem for us. We conceded a goal first and struggled to counter-attack because of the wind.

"But in the second half we had about ten chances to win. We were not lucky but I'm very happy with my players.

"The wind was a big problem and made it difficult along with the pitch. It was hard for my team but in the second half it was a problem for them. We created many chances but unfortunately didn't manage to put them in."

Orient have 47 points and are two places above the relegation zone but only outside it due to their superior goal difference.

When asked if 52 points will be enough, Liverani said: "Let's see step by step. We are again out of the relegation zone with five teams below us so we will see game by game."

The O's face another vital game on Tuesday night when they host mid-table Doncaster Rovers.
