Leyton Orient still have an outside chance of avoiding relegation from League One despite only drawing 1-1 at home to Sheffield United.

With time running out, Orient were heading down due to Crawley, Notts County and Crewe all winning. But two late goals from Peterborough at home to Crawley have kept the O's hopes alive.

The O’s struck first when Mathieu Baudry headed them into the lead in the 71st minute.

But the Blades equalised six minutes later through a deflected Bob Harris strike. Orient could not find a winner and will now have to claim three points at Swindon next weekend and hope for help.

Shaun Batt was the surprise inclusion in the side, in his first start since Boxing Day, with Ryan Hedges dropping to the bench. Lloyd James also came into midfield ahead of Josh Wright.

Scott Cuthbert, who missed the Rochdale defeat due to the birth of his daughter, replaced Shane Lowry in defence. Jay Simpson also started up front in place of David Mooney.

The visitors should have taken the lead in the opening minutes through Jason Holt but his shot was blocked by goalkeeper Alex Cisak.

The Blades went close again through Jamie Murphy but his low strike was well saved by Cisak.

It took just over 25 minutes for the O’s to have their first effort on goal as Chris Dagnall’s shot was straight at goalkeeper Mark Howard.

Orient’s plight was not looking good especially with Notts County, Crewe and Crawley all taking first-half leads.

The O’s were struggling to create openings but Batt went close when his rasping drive was touched over by Howard.

Sheffield United threatened to grab the breakthrough but Murphy was again denied by a save from Cisak.

The O’s made their first substitution with Jobi McAnuff brought on in place of Batt shortly after the start of the second half.

United went close to the opening goal through Adams but his shot was blocked by Cisak.

Liverani made his second change as he introduced midfielder Wright in place of James.

Almost out of nothing, the O’s grabbed the lead with less than 20 minutes remaining. Dean Cox sent in a corner and Baudry thumped a header into the net to send the home fans crazy.

But Orient’s joy did not last long with Hall’s deflected strike finding the net for United’s equaliser.

The hosts made their final change with Mooney thrown on for Marvin Bartley in a desperate bid to find a winner which could keep their survival hopes alive.

Simpson went close from a free-kick but his strike was tipped over the bar.

There were five minutes of injury time but Orient could not find a winner which means they will have to win their last game to have any chance of staying up.
