Fabio Liverani felt Leyton Orient’s collapse against Swindon Town on the final day of the season was a reflection of their dismal campaign.

The O’s suffered relegation after their 2-2 draw at the Robins although results elsewhere ensured Orient could not stay up in any case.

The east Londoners needed to win to have any chance of avoiding relegation but managed to throw away a 2-0 lead against an under-strength Swindon side which played 70 minutes of the game with ten men.

It was the seventh time this season the O’s had failed to win a game against a team which had a player sent off.

Liverani found it difficult explaining how his side had managed to squander their advantage but felt the pressure may have got to his team with their survival in League One on the line.

The Orient boss said: “I would like to look into the head of the players to see why these sort of things happened.

“We were 2-0 up, missed one penalty and created many chances, including hitting the crossbar, and still we couldn’t secure a win today.

“Perhaps the pressure of relegation was very high on the players. It’s been a bit of a mirror of the season this game.”
