Leyton Orient chief executive Alessandro Angelieri has confirmed the club are under a transfer embargo but expects it to be resolved soon.

The O's refused to comment earlier this month on whether the club were unable to sign players due to late filing of their accounts for 2013-14.

But Angelieri this afternoon confirmed the transfer embargo although he expects this to be resolved quickly and insists it is not a problem for new head coach Ian Hendon.

The Italian said: "It will be done in a few days. We have produced all the documents that are needed and I think in one week maximum it's fine. We can sign the contract but it's not possible to register [players yet]. We want to resolve the issue.

"It's because of the previous company. We are an Italian company and many small things take a long time but it is not a problem. There are no worries."

Angelieri added: "We are discussing now with the auditor and I think we are able to go out in some days, I don't know exactly the time, for the auditors to present the documents. You can consider that it's done. It's absolutely not a problem.

"We have finished and produced all the documents and we are waiting for the reply [from the Football League]. For me it's done."

New head coach Hendon insists he has been backed in the transfer market by owner Francesco Becchetti and expects to be busy this summer bringing in new players. Hendon also plans to talk to one or two of the 12 out of contract Orient players about staying.

He said: "I've had the conversation with the chairman and he's fully supportive in what I want to do. There's scope and we obviously need to bring in some players because of the size of the squad at the moment. There are a few that got released at the end of last season so we will be bringing players in."
