Leyton Orient midfielder Romain Vincelot has joined Coventry City for an undisclosed fee.

The Frenchman was badly missed at the end of last season after suffering a knee injury as the O's suffered relegation.

But Vincelot has decided he does not want to play for the club in League Two and agreed a move to the Sky Blues in a deal for up to two years.

Vincelot initially joined the O's on a short term contract in February 2013 and impressed enough to earn a three-year deal the following summer.

The combative midfielder was a key figure in helping the side reach the League One play-off final in 2013-14 under Russell Slade.

Vincelot made 33 appearances last season and his final game for the club came in the defeat at Peterborough in March.

The 29-year-old was linked with a move to Luton Town this summer and his desire to remain in League One has resulted in his departure which will be a blow for supporters.

Coventry boss Tony Mowbray told the club website: "Romain is a player who has always stood out at this level and someone who will add a tenacity to our midfield.

"He was a crucial part of the Leyton Orient side who made the play-offs during the 2013/14 season and someone we've looked at in detail over the past weeks.

"I want a team who are prepared to play football next season but also compete. For that, you need players who can take the ball in tight areas and play but also have a bit of bite so we're competitive in all areas of the pitch.

"Romain has these attributes and I'm delighted to welcome another signing to the club ahead of next season."
