Leyton Orient's first match under new head coach Ian Hendon ended in a 2-1 defeat at Braintree Town this evening.

Paul McCallum fired the League Two side into the lead but a penalty from Kenny Davis and a late header from Sean Marks sent the O's to defeat.

Orient handed debuts to Blair Turgott, Sean Clohessy and McCallum. There were also four trialists in the first half team which were believed to include defender Frazer Shaw, midfielder Alex Woodyard and former Blackpool and Stevenage striker Francois Zoko.

The O's opened the scoring in the friendly when Dean Cox set up McCallum and the striker slid the ball home from close range.

But Orient harshly conceded a penalty when the left-back trialist was ruled to have fouled Michael Cheek. Davis stepped up and fired home the spot-kick to level the game.

The visitors made ten changes during the second half with Sammy Moore and Ollie Palmer making their first appearances for the club.

National League side Braintree almost took the lead but Jordan Cox's header was kept out by an excellent save from goalkeeper Charlie Grainger.

Scott Kashket had a late chance to win the game but the youngster took too long and missed his opportunity to get in a shot.

It looked set to end in a draw but Braintree snatched a late winner when Sean Marks headed past Grainger.
