Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon will take charge of his first competitive match tomorrow in the League Two season opener at home to Barnet.

Hendon, who will come up against his former club on the opening day, has already outlined his target of winning promotion this season.

It has been a summer of change at Brisbane Road following the turmoil of relegation last season. Fabio Liverani has been replaced by Hendon and the squad has been revamped after a spate of departures.

The O’s, who will be captained by Mathieu Baudry, are nearly at full strength for tomorrow's opener with new striker Paul McCallum the main doubt after an ankle knock picked up at Southend on Sunday and subsequently suffering from tonsillitis.

Shaun Batt could feature for the Bees, after leaving Orient this summer, but fans' favourite Kevin Lisbie will miss out for newly-promoted Barnet due to a hamstring injury.

It is Hendon's first game in charge at home after playing all their pre-season matches away this summer and the new boss wants to establish a formidable record at Brisbane Road.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to it and I hope a lot of fans turn up and hope they’ve been happy with what they’ve seen on the road. We’re playing at home and we want to try to make it a bit of a fortress. I think every manager says the same thing about the home games and I’m no different.

“I want teams to come to Orient and not enjoy their football. I want us to enjoy being at home and winning games. The sooner we can get that started the better but it’s going to be difficult against Barnet but that’s the first game so let’s go out and try to win it.”

Barnet head coach Martin Allen said: “There is no doubt in my mind that Orient will be up in that top part of the league this season. And of course they have Andy Hessenthaler as well who did a fantastic job at Gillingham when we were champions there.”
