Leyton Orient were stunned after conceding two late goals which sent them to a 2-1 defeat at MK Dons in the first round of the League Cup tonight.

The O’s opened the scoring after 36 minutes when home captain Dean Lewington deflected Dean Cox’s cross into his own net.

It looked like Orient were on course to avenge April's 6-1 thrashing but a 90th minute own goal from Mathieu Baudry and Carl Baker's winner sent them to a cruel defeat.

Orient made four changes to the side which defeated Barnet on Saturday. Alan Dunne, Blair Turgott, Ollie Palmer and Scott Kashket were all handed their first competitive starts. Paul McCallum was rested while Frazer Shaw, Lloyd James and Jay Simpson were named on the bench.

Baker had the first opportunity for the hosts but his strike was palmed away by goalkeeper Alex Cisak.

The O’s created an opening after ten minutes but captain Baudry headed over from Dean Cox’s free-kick.

Turgott found himself in space on the right side of the penalty area but the winger fired his shot wide of the target.

The visitors grabbed the opener less than ten minutes before the break from an unlikely source when Cox’s cross was miskicked into his own net by Lewington.

The hosts almost equalised three minutes into the second half but Dale Jennings was denied by an excellent Cisak save.

MK Dons kept the pressure on but Baker’s strike was also saved by the impressive Orient keeper.

Turgott almost extended the O’s lead with his cross creeping in at the far post but Cody Cropper tipped the ball over the bar.

Striker Palmer also went close but his shot was well saved by American keeper Cropper.

Ben Reeves had an opportunity for the hosts but his deflected strike was held by Cisak.

Baudry had the chance to add a second goal but could only head Cox’s corner over the bar.

Hendon made a double change in the last ten minutes with Shaw and Simpson replacing Dunne and Palmer.

Orient came close to sealing victory late on when Kashket released Simpson but his strike was parried by Cropper.

But the home side levelled the tie in the 90th minute when Baudry headed a corner into his own net.

There was still time for one more cruel twist though as Simon Church released Baker and he fired home to dump Hendon's side out of the competition.
