Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon and influential attacker Dean Cox have both won League Two monthly awards for August.

Hendon was named manager of the month after guiding the O's to the top of the table with five wins out of five.

The Orient head coach was picked ahead of Plymouth's Derek Adams, Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth and Portsmouth manager Paul Cook.

Hendon said: “I am delighted to pick up this award, but really it is an award for the team and we wouldn’t have achieved this without the hard work of everyone at the club. Everyone is on board and the support we have received is fantastic.

“While we are fully aware of the good start we have made, it is only a start and we are five games into a 46-game season. It is now my job to try and maintain that good start over the course of the campaign.”

Cox scooped the player of the month award after scoring two goals, including a superb free-kick at Dagenham & Redbridge, along with four assists for Orient.

The O's fans' favourite was selected ahead of Cambridge United striker Barry Corr, former Orient forward Jabo Ibehre and Wycombe defender Aaron Pierre.

Hendon said: “I am really pleased that Dean has picked up this award. He plays a vital role in our team with his goals and the chances he has created for his team-mates.

“He has produced some fine performances throughout the month and it is great for both the club and the team to have won both awards for the month.”
