Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon insists he got the response he wanted from Dean Cox against Accrington Stanley.

The O's fans' favourite was surprisingly dropped from the squad for last week's victory at Morecambe.

Hendon said the decision was based on how he had performed in training and Cox was named on the bench on Saturday.

But the midfielder was handed an early introduction at Brisbane Road after being brought on for John Marquis after 34 minutes.

It was a game to forget for the O's after a very poor performance in the 1-0 defeat but Hendon was pleased with Cox's contribution.

Hendon said: "I've got to say that Coxy after not being involved last week has trained well this week and that's the response I want from him. He gave everything he could today."
