Mathieu Baudry insists the players’ commitment cannot be faulted and has criticised the minority of fans that booed the team.

Orient were the subject of jeers following their 1-0 home defeat to Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

But the O’s skipper believes the fans’ reaction is counter-productive and has urged them to stay behind the side.

Baudry said: “We had a few boos. But I think it’s just a minority of the fans and people that boo us have never played football.

“If people want to come back and have a season like we did last season and want [Fabio] Liverani to come back they can carry on doing that but if they want to stick with us and stay with the players [it’s better].”

The Frenchman added: “We’re not perfect. We haven’t got a perfect team. We make mistakes but you can’t fault the commitment of everyone.

“If people want to boo they boo but we’re just going to stick together with the boys because we’ve got a good bunch and we’ll see what happens.”

The centre-back has urged the club’s fans to keep the faith and believes the team need their support even more now.

Baudry said: “The fans have got to be with us and push us when we go behind because that’s when we need them the most.

“We haven’t got massive experience in the team so I think it’s a bit frustrating when you’ve got your own fans that don’t go with you. But the main part of the ground is with us and we can feel it. People that understand the game understand this squad is honest.”

Baudry continued: “You’ve got a few that are getting frustrated and we can understand that because after last season they want to get back as soon as possible. But it’s football so even in League Two there are tough games every week.”

Despite their disappointing recent form Baudry insists there is no reason to panic and thinks the players need to relax a bit more on the pitch.

The defender said: “We don’t need to be afraid to lose if we want to win. As soon as you panic you don’t make the right choices so we just need to stay positive and carry on playing. That’s how we’re going to get through this period. It’s not a catastrophe.”

He added: “We can’t panic. It’s a long season so panic is the best way to go wrong.”
