Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon hopes to bring in a couple of players to bolster their squad before next weekend's trip to Hartlepool United.

The O's only named six players on the bench for this afternoon's 6-1 thrashing of Staines Town in the FA Cup first round and have lost Connor Essam for up to eight weeks with an ankle injury.

Speaking after the win, Hendon said: "The way the squad is right now I had a meeting with the president on Thursday and Friday. We've discussed it so we are looking.

"I'm not obviously going to tell you where position wise because it wouldn't be fair on anybody but we're having a look and we're going to try and bring a couple in if we can."

Orient breezed into the second round of the FA Cup after a blistering start against Staines saw them score three times in the first 13 minutes.

Hendon said: "We knew it was always going to be a tough game. These games are not easy but I've got to give credit to the players. They came out, started the game very well and put on a good performance. The main thing is we're through to the next round.

"I wasn't really expecting it to be honest [three early goals]. Our plan was we knew they have a couple of wide players that are tricky.

"We said to our full backs to just sit in and look after them and try to keep them quiet. As the game goes on then maybe we could start to go but it's funny how games start and turn out and we were 3-0 up very early in the game."

The second round draw is on Monday night and Hendon hopes his side can stay at home in the next match.

He said: "We would love to play at home. We just looked at a few of the results and there are a few long trips in there and we don't particularly want one of those. Ideally we want to be at home but now I've said it we'll probably end up at Carlisle after they beat Plymouth!"
