Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon insists Jobi McAnuff will remain part of the first-team squad after his long-awaited comeback in the win over York City.

The experienced midfielder had been frozen out of action for the whole campaign at the request of owner Francesco Becchetti. But McAnuff made his first appearance of the season as a substitute in the 3-2 victory at Brisbane Road.

Hendon said: "He's [McAnuff] in the squad and he's involved so that's it. It's over with and done. He's back involved. It's taken four months. He's always been onside and he's back involved. It's as simple as that."

When asked whose decision it was to recall McAnuff, Hendon replied: "It doesn't matter. He's back involved in the first-team squad and that's where he's going to stay. Of course [I welcome it]."

It was the O's first match following their surprise stay in a Waltham Abbey hotel. Orient were forced by the owner to stay in the hotel for four nights as a punishment following last weekend's loss to Hartlepool.

But Hendon believes too much has been made of the situation and would not be against it happening again in the future.

He said: "I've got a good group of players in there. They're honest. Any mistakes that are made are honest mistakes. We had a couple last week and the result of that was to spend a week in a hotel. That's something that happens from time to time here."

When asked if he would be willing to repeat the hotel stay again, Hendon said: "Why not? If that's what it needs to get everybody together and spend more time together than why not? If we said we were going off to Spain or Tenerife for a week for warm weather training no-one would have batted an eyelid.

"The fact we were in Waltham Abbey in a hotel doing a similar thing with more time on the training ground I don't see what the fuss is about."
